    Most likely caused by mineral deposits. Remove the retaining nut and spout. Clean out the are and fill base with CLR or Limeaway and let soak, Repeat if deposits are thick. Clean spout and apply a little Vaseline on the "O" ring and reinstall.

    From my experience, changing faucets will save you work, grief and time. And some of the popular brands are deeply discounted, from time to time.

    I agree with JLMcDaniel - we have hard water and periodically have to clean out various parts of our faucet. It doesn't make sense to change out the faucet every time this happens.
