Default Delta Shower drip and can not remove handle

I have a stand alone shower that has a Delta single handle control. I have tried ever trick I can think of to get the handle off. I have removed the set screw but the handle will not come off.

I think I am going to have to remove the whole shower valve and replace.

Looking at the picture do you think I have enough room to complete the project with the current hole? Or am I going to need to make a whole in the wall behind my shower where the toliet is?

Thank you all for any suggestions you may have.

You will be hard pressed to change out the valve through that small hole.

Sometimes you can tap the handle onto the stem further, breaking the mineral and corrosion build up. If that doesn't work, then I would cut the handle into pieces to get it off, careful not to destroy the valve stem.
I suffer from CDO ... Its like OCD, but in alphabetical order, LIKE IT SHOULD BE!!!
