I'd like to remove what appears to be an old stove vent pipe that seems to extend from the basement up through the kitchen and second floor and attic into an approximately 3 inch vent pipe on the roof (does not vent into chimney).
The vent pipe was covered over with plywood but it protrudes from the inside kitchen wall. I'd like to remove it and make the wall flush for installing new cabinets. The house is a cape built in Massachusetts in 1930. Also curious: what type of stove would have been installed in the house? I don't believe gas was available. Would it have been coal even in 1930?
