Default How can I remove old paint from my exterior stone walls?

I have stone columns that were painted with exterior paint some time ago. How can I go about removing it?

Almost impossible. Some idiot painted the four beautiful sandstone foundations for my four huge columns that go up four stories to the 5th floor porch of my apartment building built in 1913. They were painted well before I owned in 13 years ago. I have tried paint remover, pressure washing, wire wheels on grinders, belt sanders and yes a little comes off each time but I could be 90 years old before I get it all off. I haven't tried sandblasting because I am afraid of damaging the nice smooth cut surface of the sandstone. It is almost a useless endeavor unless someone out there knows of some magic solution.
