Default taking out a drain body from a shower

how do i take out the drain body from a shower. my shower does not have a strainder body. Am i suppose to twist it out or pull it out? i tried using a hammer and a chisel to remove it, since it is glued down, but i broke the edges of the drain body. now i am wondering how i will be able to remove it with out doing any damage to the pan.

Usually, the drain neck sticks up the center of the shower pan, the pan has a mating depression around the drain, then a rubber donut is pushed in between the shower pan neck and the drain neck, creating the seal

If your unit is all glued together, then you probably won't get the pan loose without destruction of both the pan and drain neck.
