Exclamation Front porch level with front entrance

We went to add a cement porch to the front of our house. Is it necessary to build it 4" lower than the front door as the contractor recommends or can the porch be flush with the front entrance?

    Follow the contractors recommendation.
Otherwise you risk all sorts of issues from water infiltration and rot.

yup, having it lower allows any water that sits to be below the opening. it also allows for proper flashing of the porch ledger and the sil at the door opening to prevent water getting in

They're probably playing around with the spam filter again and we'll all become jr members or banned except the spammers.
