Default Old windows vs. new windows

Which is more cost effective, buying used doors and windows ($200 for a good pair of old French doors) and having them refinished, or buying new doors and windows?

Windows-New that way you get up to date thermal seald low E panes.
Interior doors it depends on whether you're talking about buying cheap doors or high end solid doors.
Exterior doors you will generaly end up about the same for the same type door.

I stand corrected. Usually when I see someone say cost effective I assume they are talking about out of pocket immediate cost. But then you know what they say about assume.
