    Default Tile behind Radiators

We have (steam) radiator heat in our home and we are considering some minor remodeling. I'm considering installing ceramic tile on the wall (in decorative fashion) behind each of the radiators. Knowing the heat tolerance and properties of ceramic tile, are there any reasons why I should not install it as described?

The walls are lathe and plaster and the radiators will be removed (for refinishing) during the project.

Any thoughts and comments are welcomed.

I would recommend a piece of aluminum or steel panel attached to the wall behind the radiator instead of the ceramic tile.

The metal would reflect the heat that would otherwise be lost to the exterior wall back into the room.

Take the radiator off it's brackets.
