    Default hanging pictures on plaster

My 1915 American Foursquare has horsehair plaster walls. Any time we try to hang anything on the walls, the plaster crumbles away, leaving a hole and unable to support any weight. Any suggestions?

    AMW,

Are you trying to drive nails into plaster? I prefer to pre-drill holes and use screws when anchoring to plaster. Plaster is to brittle to drive nails into without often causing the surface to crater out. I use pan head screws which have a fixed diameter to the shaft, unlike wood screws, which have tapered shafts.
