    Unhappy sump pump dilemma

    Hey Everyone,

When the previous owners had the house built they installed a sump pump system which is very necessary, but its not working as it should. After much self investigation I believe that the water is dumped into a dry well that isn't dry. Our house sits about 300 feet from a stream so the water table is very high. How do I find the end of the pipe and "wet" well? Any help would most appreciated, particularly since we are now in the beginning of spring rains. Thanks so much

Since you suspect that the line goes to a wet "dry" well, would it make more sense to just plumb a new line to the outside of your house and dump it on the surface--at least temporarily to get you past the spring season.
