Default Hood over Island in 2 story house?

    Hi all,
I currently have a down draft vent in my island which is ok but doesn't get all smoke/steam/grease out of the house.

I'd love to remove it, replace the burners and counters and install a nice hood in the ceiling and have it vent out of the house.

The issue is I'd have to cut into the ceiling and then bend it 90 degrees and vent it out the side of the house.

Can this be done? Has anyone ever done this? Or is it just wishful thinking?

    Thanks all.

    .
Yes -- it can be done.
Just make sure to use rigid metal ducting --- Do Not use flex ducting.
