Default Need Advice About Switching from Oil to Natural Gas

    Hi, everyone.

I just received a direct mail piece from National Grid, inviting me to switch from oil to natural gas heat.

I don't know much about what is involved with such a switch. I know I'll need a natural gas tank, but will that be able to hook into the radiators which heat my home currently?

    Thanks,

    Erik

If it's natural gas ( NG ) there is no tank involved -- it's piped to your home.

Other than oil the only other fuel that requires a tank would be propane (LP )

As for you radiator heat --- the natural gas would replace the oil as fuel for the boiler.

It would require to retrofit the boiler ( if it can be ) --- removing the oil burner components and replace with natural gas burner components.

I looked into changing from oil to gas a couple years ago and some gas companies will give discounts on equipment. Ask them what they have to offer in that respect.
