    Unhappy Drain clogs, basement floods!

We live in a 1965 Tri-Split Level home with a walk-out basement. From time to time when we get a lot of rain the drain seems to fill up with sand, possibly leaves and other debris and before we know it, we have water coming into our basement.

This has gotten old, and frustrating. We are tired of having to clean or get new carpet. What can we do to eliviate this problem???? Will it be expensive??? My dad says it is coming from the foundation of the home; sand coming from between the bricks? I think??? Any suggesstions?

It has to be more to it than just "watching it" and making sure we get the leaves off of the top, and checking the "Sand level"!!!!

Thanks in advance for any and all advice.
