    Default New Paint

I have just painted my exterior door with Oil Base paint and am wondering how long I have to wait before I close the door because I am afraid that the rubber weather stripping will stick to the door. The door feels dry but I do not know how long it takes for the paint to cure even though it feels dry

When the door is no longer tacky to the touch, you should be safe in closing it. Oil paint does not have that life-long gummi feel that latex paints have.

You can usually remove the weatherstrip from the jamb too, which allows you to close the door without risk of paint damage. after a couple days, put the weatherstrip back and you're done.
