    Question Pre-War Aparment Door Trouble

We moved into a pre-war apartment building in March and slowly have been tackling the rooms to bring it back to life. The previous owner really neglected the apartment.

The latch on our front door created grooves in the wall from constantly rubbing against it and continues to do so. (See pictures attached) The walls are all plaster. I am not sure how to address this issue...should we purchase a smaller door, cut away the wall to the left of the door and move it over, etc. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you!
