I just saw this story...

"Insult to injury in New Orleans as homeowners who lost everything in hurricane Katrina are facing a new hurdle: dealing with thieves.

Many residents in the habitat for humanity community - Musician's Village, haven't even moved into their new homes, and already they're having to make repairs.

Copper thieves are on the prowl - this community seems to be a target.

Street value for a two-and-a-half foot piece of copper piping stolen from under each house.. Is just twenty dollars.

Habitat says they will use donation money to replace all the piping.

Many of the homes are raised up off the ground, making it even easier for vandals to steal the copper.

Habitat crews have taken steps to deter vandals by replacing the copper piping with pvc pipes and waiting to the last minute to install copper wiring to air conditioning and electrical units."
