Question Hot is cold, cold is hot

My tub worked fine for years. One day I went to take a shower and the water temperatures were reversed. No work had been done on the system, one day it just changed. I'm assuming a part inside became worn. Can anyone tell me what exactly the problem is and how to fix it? I've included a picture of the tub in question.

    Thanks!

It is the 3 way valve itself [ the part above spout]

You can replace the assembly but I would check for debris build up / stuck valve. Sometimes you can disassemble it and clean it.

Click on the link and look at the picture so you'll get the idea.
Look at illustration #23 on old style and #8 on new style......

You only need two tools in life - WD-40 and Duct Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use WD-40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the Duct Tape.
