Default Natrual Stone - Dry layed patio

I am planing out a small ~300sqft patio project. I plan to used blue stone.

I am reading some conflicting information about what to use as an underlayment. This will be a dry layed patio. Also do i still need to pitch it since it is a dry layed patio?

Pea gravel rather then sand will provide a firmer underlayment and yes yo do need to pitch it.
