Help with Major Decision Re: Structural work
I am hoping to get some input on a decision I need to make in about 72 hours. We are looking to buy an old (~1830) house in MA and have recently found out that the house will require major work - specifically replacment of the mud sill all around. We are being told that this may cost in excess of $40k.
I was wondering if anyone out there has had this renovation done to their house? If so, how long does it take? is it live-able during the fix? does $40k sound reasonable? It is a 2000 sq foot former-tavern.
Any advice, questions, and or comments would be much appreciated!
