    Default Tub tunes

We live in a 100+ year old house. Twelve years ago we built a second story addition above the back part of the house. Lately when the upstairs toilet is flushed you can hear a gurgling sound coming through the faucet in the downstairs tub. Where do we begin to stop the tub tunes?

Is the downstairs bathroom directly below the upper bath?

Are you certain it's the faucet and not the tub drain the gurgle sound is coming from?

The bath is not directly above the older bath but I did go and listen again and the sounds are coming from the drain. It also has a slight sound when the toilet flushes upstairs.

Is it possible the same sound occurs when you flush the toilet in that same bathroom?

Typically when this gurling sound occurs when the toilet is flushed usually indicates a venting problem. There are ocassions when a partial blockage some where in the drain can cause back pressure of air that may be the cause of the sound.

It may require having the drain lines from upstairs snaked as well from the downstairs tub to the 3 inch.

Of course this is sight unseen.
