Cool Old plaster bits coming out of my bathtub faucet

I have a 100 year old house. Lately I have noticed that I am getting small, old yellow looking chunks of what appears to be plaster coming out of my hot water faucet in my bathtub. I have also noticed a pipe making a loud bank when water is running. I smell trouble. Anyone had this trouble?

It sounds like you are getting rust and lime deposits either breaking loose in the pipes or you have an excessive amount in the bottom of your water heater being stirred up when it re fills. Sounds like it's time for some updating on you plumbing or water heater.

Sounds to me like it may be a disentigrating dip tube in the water heater. How old is the WH?
