    Exclamation reverse osmosis drain tube

We moved our kitchen reverse osmosis system to the basement and since then I have noticed that the drain tube is gradually turning black. I don't understand why any bacteria is becoming a problem because when the unit was in the kitchen the tube led to the main kitchen sink drain. I also need to know if I am contaminating our drinking water.

Because the drain is a discharge not an intake it shouldn't be a problem. I would guess there is two reasons for th blackening. One the tube is much longer and harder to flush and being in the basement it probably isn't as arid so the tube stays moist.
