Default How do I clean a plumbing trap?

    Hello, everyone!

I have a slow-draining bathtub. I tried disconnecting the drain screen and cleaning the drain with baking soda and vinegar, followed by boiling hot water. This has worked in the past but worked only a little this time. I suspect I need to clean the trap in the drain.

How do I do this? I've never done this before, and assume it's not a huge deal, but just want to be sure I do it correctly. Do I need a plumber's snake, for instance?

Here is how our trap looks:

Remove the clean out plug in the bottom of the trap. If the trap is plugged that should do the trick. It looks like all the plumbing is glued is you need to snake the line you may have to cut out the trap, snake the line and reinstall a new trap.
