Small Kitchen - Help
Hi all, Been going back & forth on how to design this small 50's kitchen. If i place the refrigerator where the previous homeowners had theres ,we have to completely walk around it ! Also on the wall where the half built-in-oven is, the stairs are behind this wall leading to basement. I listed some links to pictures because i could'nt get the attachments on forum to work.Any help we be greatly appreciated !!

Hi Rick, I thought I had a small awkward kitchen. You win! One suggestion, enlarge the kichen to include the dining area. Put a dining island in the dining space, with reasonable sized storage beneath (not a large behemoth island) and furniture quality embellishments. Remove the tiny peninsula jutting out. You could put the fridge there, at the end of that run of counter. With the peninsula removed you will still have a cabinet, it will just be even with the rest of counter run. That is where you could move the heat register, into the toe kick, then there is room for the fridge at end of the counter. On the far wall, to the left of slider, you could run another counter, maybe using shallow upper cabinets for base, high shine wood counter top, perhaps with hutch, or just have a very nice china cabinet there, although that may jut too far into the space. Or you could put the fridge at one end of a counter configuration, anchoring it, downsizing the island. Then swap the slider for high end french doors to make the room more formal, since you will no longer have a proper table space, dining at island. I'm guessing the oven into stairwell consricts stairwell passage, so you can't recess fridge in the same way. Hope this gives you ideas to play with.
