We've bought a 1939 house - very good brick construction, thick walls, everybody complements it. There is a newer addition however - build probably in 1984-85 as written on the carepet that we removed from there. Unfortunately there is palpable difference between the quality of two structures... We installed new hardwood floor - exsactly matched to the 70 y/o one that the rest of the house has and crown moldings.
The only problem now - remarcable difference in temperature like in the previous post.
We beleive it is a lousy insulation - we measured temperature on the surfece of the walls - it is different.
My question is - can our addition be insulated from outside - we would like to strip off vynil siding, apply insulation and cover it again. Can this be done? Any advice?
