    Question recessed lighting

I have recessed lighting that cannot be surrounded by insulation. With the new cool bulbs, can you now cover the cans with insulation?

You can do anything you want. But if you do not want to have a house fire then you follow the manufactures directions. How about installing the cans that allow insulation around them so in the future some unknown person does not put in replacement bulbs and burn the place down ....

The new "cool" light bulbs are still pretty hot. I've seen many florescent and LED related burns in fixtures and ceilings.
