    Default Building a Playground

Greetings all, my first post on the boards.

I currently have a swing set/slide set set up in my backyard where the grass really gets beat up. So, I decided that I am going to enclose the area with some rubber rails and then fill it in with mulch.

I was planning on putting down the black plastic / weed barrier before filling the area in with mulch. However, do I need to first do anything with the grass and weeds in the area first before putting the barrier down (e.g., apply a herbicide)?

Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

I have done the same type of work and I would recommend spraying the area with round up and killing off any living green that you dont wont to poke up through in a few weeks. try overlaping your material by 2 feet as well.

Thanks for the tips. The two feet overlap seems like a lot, but I guess this will keep me from having to replace the barrier in a couple of years.
