On a recent show, Richard used what was a regular ratching PVC pipe cutter except that the "platform" that the pipe lies against and the blade passes through appear to be much wider than regular cutters. The idea, of course, is to get a straight cut. It didn't occur to me to save the episode because I didn't need the tool at the time. However, I sometimes make things out of PVC, and having a straight cut is critical. The BrassCraft T012 cutter that I have will NOT make a straight cut when cutting near the end of the pipe. The "wings" on the platform appear to extend an inch or so on each side of the blade.
