    Default Cutting plaster walls

I want to install some new electrical/cable boxes in plaster/lathe walls and I'm not sure of the best way to cut the plaster to ensure the minimum amount of damage e.g. cracking?

    Any suggestions?

Mark out the hole you need to cut in the plaster/lath wall. Then stabilize the plaster around the cut line with plaster repair adhesive (www.plastermagic.com). After the adhesive is set use a rotary saw to cut the plaster and lath. the adhesive is to keep the plaster and lath from moving independently from each other and causing additional cracking. The rotary saw is to prevent the damage that can come from using a reciprocating saw and having it catch on the lath.
