    Default Replacing Old Ceiling Fixture

I have two 40+ year old ceiling fixtures that I want to replace. In one case, it is because the cover is just old. In the other case, the cover is just missing. I haven't seen the covers at my local hardware store, which suggests to me that maybe they don't make them anymore.

The original fixture has a flush-mount cover that, when mounted, looks like a bump in the ceiling. There is a roughly 11"x11" square "can" in the ceiling with an electrical box off to one side which houses the wires and feeds power to a standard 60W bulb, which sits roughly in the center of the main "can."

So... what are my realistic options? There is nothing wrong with the "can" per se, so it seems to me that the easiest thing to do would be to install new covers (if I could find them). Otherwise, I may need to rip out the old "cans" and replace with modern celing fixtures (and hope that there is enough slack in the wires), or possibly install a big flourescent light that covers the hole (which may also demand some wire slack).

Now that you can see the rough in part of the housing write down the model number. I bet a electrical supply house can get you some replacement trim for your lights

    Thanks for responding.

I actually thought of this yesterday before seeing your post and took a fixture that I already pulled out of the ceiling to a lighting supply store in my area. We ordered an 11.5" x 11.5" box light. I will have to rip out the old fixture, but at least this way the drywall repair should be minimal.

    Thanks again.
