    Default radiant floor heating questions

I just added this new heating system with my new addition. My questions are; do I need a special glue to put down vinyl sheet flooring and do I need a special size padding, I was going to get 1/2inch thick, and my carpeting, do I need to get thin carpeting instead of thick so the heat will go through properly?
Thank You for all the help,
    Diane

Default Re: radiant floor heating questions

It is always recommended that the carpeting be as thin as possible when using radiant floor heat---thick carpeting will defeat the purpose of the radiant system.

The manufacturer should be contacted to verify that the adhesive used with the vinyl sheet is appropriate.

There are also numerous sites on-line that deal with these issues:

Google "radiant floor heat" carpeting vinyl flooring (with and without the quotation marks).
