    Default hardwood under linoleum

We have exposed our hard wood floors that were under linoleum for at least 15-18 years. Only the edges had been glued, but it also seems tacky in the interior of the floor. What is the best way to remove the adhesive along the edges? Will the tackiness in the interior go away? Without totally sanding and refinishing the floor for now, we would like to do something to the surface for now. Any recommedations?

There are glue removers available. Like any other chemical try it in a small area to see what will happen. I wouldn't sand until I had to. Some hardwood floors you can only sand once and then the veneer is gone. I don't know if the tackiness will go away but you could try cleaning with some white vinegar and water. Again in a small place first.
