Default New House Has Roach Odor

    Greetings all ...

My wife and I have just purchased our first home in south Florida and we've run into a nasty surprise -- roaches. Not one or two, which are common down here, but hundreds in the kitchen, behind the walls. You get the idea.

Well, Orkin's been out, and the critters are dying in droves, but now there's this heavy, musty cockroach odor. Our question is how to get rid of it. Will it fade with time or do we have to tear out the walls?

FYI, I broke out the baseboards in the kitchen (which had been tiled in by the previous owner) and discovered the hidden cockroach graveyard. After cleaning that up, the small largely disappated. It appears that you have to physically remove the critters, not just kill them.

Turns out the odor is lingering, although less powerful than before. Any advice for fully eradicating it would be appreciated!
