Use of Power tools in South America?
I'm going to be working in Chile ,South America and wondering about the electric being at 50htz and ours is 60htz will this destroy my hand tools?
Re: Use of Power tools in South America?
Most hand tools, like drills, routers, jigsaws, etc., use universal motors (with brushes in them). They will run on anything from direct current (DC) on up to 60~ or beyond. Their only critical issue is voltage. The frequency may affect the circuitry in variable speed tools, but it probably won't harm it.
