Default Unreal price for flourescent fixture

Something is not right. I just bought for $50 a 1x4 flourescent fixture to install in my basement. Unfortunately, I discovered that a planned ductwork change leaves me only 44 inches. So I went looking for a 1x2 fixture. The prices I'm getting quoted are $80-$230.
Surely, a fixture under $50 is available.
The alternative is to install Cans as in 2 minimum to match the 2600 lumen output.
DOES ANYONE KNOW OF A GOOD SOURCE OF FLOURESCENT FIXTURES?

You may have priced a fixture using electronic ballasts & T8 bulbs. Yes the price is out of this world, I agree.
Something about that "Green Movement" we all should be helping out,you know.
About the only ones getting green are the manufacturers.
