Question Plugs fall out of receptacle

Our receptacles will not hold plugs tightly. If the cord is moved in the slightest the item that's plugged in loses power and at times the plug will completely fall out of receptacle. Any help or suggestions will be much appreciated!

    Thanks,

If all the plugs don't stay in then sounds like it's time to replace the receptacles.

Thanks for the answer to my quandry. The contractor must have used really cheap receptacles, the house is only 5 yrs old.

    May I ask you why?

Also which receptacles should we be using, 10 amp or 20 amp?

The cheaper the receptacle the thiner the copper spring contacts. the thinner they are the faster they loose tension.

Use 15 amp receptacles if you have 14 ga. wire, and 20 amp receptacles if you have 12 ga. wire.
And always connect wire to screws rather than the plug in stab connections.
