Question living room walls...paint plus ripped wall paper

    Hi there,

We'd like to fix our living room walls...it appears that they were once wallpapered and someone attempted to rip SOME of it off, but did not succeed. They then painted over it at least once. There are some visible seams of wallpaper, as well as divots, bumps, and the aforementioned torn wallpaper.

Where do we begin with this project?

    Thanks!

    start by removing that paper.

Okay, there is a bonding agent that can be put over painted surfaces then a skim coat of plaster can be put over that to smooth the walls. It just depends on how hard you want to work.

Thanks, Debby. I do want to remove the paper, I just don't know where to start or how to get to it with coats of paint over it.

Is there a specific kind of bonding agent I should use if I choose the other method?

    Thanks!

    Emily
