    Default Painting shelves

What type of paint shoud I use to paint shelves?

I have used the best latex paints available but I have found that anything placed on them tend to stick with the result that the paint pulls off when the object is picked up.

In the past when smelly old oil paint was the only thing available this didn't seem to be a cause problem but they don't seem to be available.

Does anyone have any advice on what to use?

I would try an oil based paint. But, you're going to have to get all that old latex off the shelves as it isn't compatible with the oil based paint. Good luck.

I agree with using the oil based paint. I've used latex for shelves before, the key is to let the paint fully cure, whether it's oil or latex, before use. Flat or matte latex paint will be less likely to stick.
