    Default Removing Stair Spindles

I would like to have the stair treads refinished. The job would be facilitated if I could remove the Hand rail spindles. They are pinned in place with a single no head 16 or 18 gauge pneumatic nail gun brad. The heads do not protrude enough to grab with needle nose or other pliers. Any ideas how to remove the spindles without breaking them? I can twist the spindle in the opposite direction the pin was placed which loosens spindle but that does not allow it to move up enough to slide bottom out.

    Thanks

My guess is you will have to remove your hand rails.
