Default Sewer Drain Stopper? Product seen on This Old House

    Hi everybody,

I am looking for this product- it was seen on This Old House a while ago. I am not sure on the correct name.

But it is a sewer drain stop- doesn’t allow the water from the sewer to enter the basement (because of a ball that rises with the water level). Can you help me to find this product?

    Sincerely,
    Basket Case

Do you mean a "back flow preventer"?

WATTS makes them, as well as others.

I believe what you are looking for is called a backwater valve and they come in many different styled one is a ball like you described one is a flapper which isn't very good because a lot of the time stuff gets stuck in the hatch then they have this other type which I believe the last one I installed was similar to this http://www.backwater-valves.com/ hope this helps you find what you are looking for, It is not a back flow by watt's that is just to prevent siphoning from like drink machines, etc... mixing into your drinking water.
