    Default Ipe Deck sealant?

I've recently had a large Ipe deck built in N California. Does anyone have any experience using sealants with Ipe? What type? How often should it be reapplied?

I dont want to make a mistake with it given the cost of the material. Thanks

I am no expert, but my understanding is that ipe requires no care, other than keeping it clean. The wood is so dense, that it is practically impervious to rot and decay for a long, long, time. But I would like to hear that same advice from others who are more knowledgeable. What did your builder recommend?

Thanks for the "woodsthebest" article. The idea of a stabilizing agent is new, I will look into that. The builder has no solid recommendations. Though they did a great job with the construction itself (burning through many drills, bits and blades) they are redwood experts because thats what generally gets built out here.
