    Default Painting metal heat venst

I have an older home with metal registers that open and close. I have cleaned them and would like to paint them. What is the best way to do this? I bought spray for metal? Also I disconnected the vent from the the louver that opens and closes, it looks like this was some type of metal should this be painted in a silver...I need help and ideas

I have sprayed mine with spray paint. I assume the silver is for the chain? the less paint the better on that part as it tends to grab and not fit through the hole. so you might want to clean it with a stripper if it has a couple of layers
