    Default Old Painted Wood Floors

    Took Carpet Out Of A House We Just Purchased.house Was Built In 1882. We Want To Go Back To The Original Wood Floors Which Are 5 " Planks Painted A Dark Reddish Brown.should We Repaint Or Sand Seal And Wax.the Wood Appears To Be Asoft Honey Color Under The Paint.house Is In Sw Michigan.

    My personal preference would be to sand , stain if desired, and finish with a floor grade polyurethane. vacuum and damp mop only, I never use wax on floors. If the finish starts to wear, lightly buff with sandpaper or steel wool and add a new coat of poly. IMHO.
