Question Need to replace heavy threshold in 105 year old victorian

I'm helping my parents to get their house on the market. We've removed the wall to wall carpet in their large foyer and refinished a well kept hardwood floor. When the carpet was installed years ago the bottom of the door was cut to accomodate the thickness of the carpet and allow it to swing freely. Their was a large metal threshold with a rubber strip running down the middle. The metal part is in good condition but the rubber part is falling apart. Our local builing supply stores have 36" parts similar to what we need, but we need 42". Can someone point me in the right direction, so we can replace this piece???

When I picked up one for my SIL's house they carried 36" and 42" at the local hardware store. If they don't have one ask if they can order you one.

    Install it as two pieces?
