    Default waterproof shower trim

I have a rental property and it has a one piece shower and the walls of the shower are flush with the drywall. Needless to say there is some water damage to the drywall that is butted up against the shower and gets wet with every shower. Is there some sort of trim I can install over the flush joint that would at least protect the gap? Thanks in advance for the help.

In a similar situation I used PVC trim board (Azek) and caulk to trim out a one piece shower. It has been about 3 years since I did this in a rental and it has held up nicely. When I did it I "made" the trim by ripping the 1x6 Azek to the desired width. There may be actual trim boards made with Azek by now, I haven't had to look or any.
