    Question Help Identify this insect

    Does anyone know what this insect is? They are everywhere. We went to Lowe's and bought SEVEN but it did nothing.
    We have to be careful of what we use becuase of the dogs.

    Please help.

    I'm guessing from the picture that it is a box elder bug....

    I grew up in Montgomery co., PA and we also had lots of them. I don't remember what we used to get rid of them.

    Looks like a box-elder bug to me too.

    We get tons of those around here, mostly in the fall..along with the biblical influx of the asian beetles (lady bug imposters) from the soybean fields.

    A common pyrethrin based insecticide should whack the box-elders. It does here.

    The Sevin will probably kill them, but the visible knock-down isn't nearly as fast.

    Have heard that spraying BE bugs with common dish detergent or laundry detergent mixed with water will also kill them, but haven't ever tried it myself.
