If that was the answer you were given ... That's a dumb answer ... in my opinion .... there's no way that exhaust pipe should be rubbing against the wood structure ... that's just common sense.
He said that the wood would eventually distort to conform to the pipe's expansion and contraction, but that I would continue to hear the noise until then.
Since there is contruction around and if the folks who install the euipment are working on site ... then they should be coming back to correct it ... plain and simple.
