    Question re-wiring

I have two recessed lights in my large living/dining room area. They are on the same switch. I am going to add a chandelier and a pendant light in the general areas they are in and I am wondering - can I re-wire this so they are on different switches? Is this possible? I would rather not have them turn on and off together. Thanks!

For the most part .....Sure it can.

This would involve some rewiring and new wires run to accomodate the new arrangement ..... how easy would depend .... if there is an attic above the ceiling this would simplify the process and minimize the repairs.... if there is no attic above then it complicates things and would likely require repairs to the ceiling.

There may also be the consideration of needing a change to the junction box especially where the chandelier would be located. The weight of the fixture could exceed the rating of the existing junction box and would need to be changed for one that is rated as such.

    Hope this helps.
