    Default Floor Lamps Shorting Out

I have two floor lamps that are shorting out. How do I go about fixing them? I am in a room that doesn't have any overhead lighting and would like to have at least one of the lamps fixed. I can probably do it if someone would explain it to me.

The most likely problem is a bad cord. You would need to open the socket case, disconnect the wires from the socket. tie a pull string on the cord, and pull the old cord and the pull string out the bottom of the lamp. Use the pull string to pull a new cord up into the lamp, connect to the socket, and reinstall the socket and shell.
