Metal window guides
Hi.. first time poster... love the show and magazine.
My question: We have a older (1928) house in Boston Suburbs. I am remodelling an 8x8 mud room which has one window. The window is in "decent" shape/conditon. I did notice one sash cord was broken and so I preceeded to take out the sash to repalce the cord. In the process I bent (pretty good I might add) the metal guide strip and also broke one of the wooden parting strip. I re-milled the parting strip however had to use the table saw to cut a groove into which the metal strip slips into (along one side of the metal strip). This worked OK (saw blade kerf larger thatn ideal). ANyway, upon reassemlpy the window works very poorly. I had trimmed the top of the guides by 2 inches (i.e., the most severely bent parts) and restored/straightend the rest as best I could but fear that the small bends is contributing tothe poor operation of the window.
Is there a supplier for these metal window guides (and since I'm asking... wooden parting strips with small groove)
Any help appreciated.
